Looking for a fun fall outing that will keep your kiddos active and engaged? Lake Norman is home to many fantastic playgrounds that promise hours of adventure and excitement. Here are 5 of our favorites, plus an extra gem a little further out that you won’t want to miss!
Top 5 Playgrounds Around Lake Norman
- At Mountain Creek Park in Sherrils Ford, you’ll find an epic treehouse-style adventure playground that will delight your crew. The park also features a mountain bike skills course and pump track, a network of paved and unpaved trails, a unique nature center, and picnic shelters so you can play all day!
- Liberty Park in Mooresville is walking distance from Main Street, which allows residents and visitors to spend the day exploring. A sprawling three-tier playground features an area for younger kids, more challenging obstacles for older children, and accessible features for kids of all abilities. It also has a splashpad that’s open Memorial Day through Labor Day, basketball courts and a picnic area.
- Beaty Park in Davidson is a natural wood playground. Watch imaginations run free with rope bridges and an “indoor” climbing wall. It also features walking trails and an open field for a game of catch or soccer.
- Ramsey Creek Park in Cornelius is an exciting playground more geared to older children. This park features multiple climbing opportunities, exciting twisty slides and whizzing zip lines. It is located at Lake Norman’s only public swimming beach outside of the state park, which is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.
- Rosedale Nature Park in Huntersville is ideal for families with littles and bigs, featuring a gate-enclosed playground with climbing structures, slides and zip lines. Outside the gate is a natural wooded playscape with obstacles, slides and a perfect setting for hide and seek.

Wildwoods at the White Water Center in Charlotte is more than just a playground. It’s a fully fenced-in adventure experience for kids of all ages. Back in the woods, you’ll find tree houses and platforms, suspension bridges, climbing structures, hammock lofts, swings and much more. Wildwoods also features the region’s only balance bike trail with bikes and helments available for use. There’s a snack bar and picnic table area outside the fence. Tickets are $18 and must be purchased at the entrance to the WWC.
