Pick your own fruit and flowers this spring and summer!

Picking your own fruit and flowers is a delight for all ages. And the fun continues when you return home with your spoils! Whether baking a favorite dessert or setting a lovely table, harvesting your own crops makes the experience a little sweeter. Here are the best places to pick your own fruit in the greater Lake Norman area:

Pick Your Own Strawberries

Carrigan Farms in Mooresville is one of the closest pick-your-own farms, with strawberries starting mid-April and continuing throughout the month of May. No reservations are needed, but the weekends do get busy. Containers are provided. Cash only.

At Patterson Farm in Mt. Ulla, you can pick your own strawberries starting mid-April, usually through the first week of June. It is recommended to book tickets online to ensure entry, though they do sell tickets at the gate if space allows. You can also visit animals at the barnyard and play on the playground while you’re there. Cash and credit cards accepted. 

Lineberger’s Farm in Dallas offers you-pick strawberries in the spring and early summer. The fields are open now through June. The farm also features a playground and a farm store where you can purchase homegrown products and sweet treats.  Cash and credit cards are accepted.

Wise Acres Organic Farm in Indian Trail is one of the most popular you-pick farms with strawberries from mid-April through early June and blueberries and sunflowers in June through early July. Picking is by reservation only, see website for tickets. Make a day of it while enjoying their expansive wooded playground, animals, picnic areas and barn store. On weekends, you can add tickets for their homemade wood-fired pizza (must be pre-ordered).

Pick Your Own Blueberries

Keeper Creek pick your own blueberries

Keeper Creek Farm is a picturesque farm in Mt. Ulla where visitors can pick blueberries and blackberries. The season starts in June and continues through August. This year the farm is also offering pick your own lavender. Cash only. 

De’Farm on Blueberry Hill in Catawba hosts u-pick blueberries beginning on June 15th and continuing through mid-August. During the season, their Market Wagon is also stocked with fresh-picked blueberries, mushrooms, farm-made blueberry jam, young blueberry plants, and woody ornamentals (for floral arrangements). Bring your own bags or containers. Cash only.

Pick Your Own Flowers

May and June starts pick your own flower season at McLawland Farms in Charlotte NC

Howard Family Farm in Harmony is known for their gorgeous flowers and pre-arranged bouquets. In the spring, they also offer strawberry picking and other produce for purchase. 

McLawland Farms in Charlotte has you-pick flowers starting mid-May with sunflowers expected in early July. They also have blueberries, blackberries and raspberries starting in June. Check out their website for more events and opportunities to visit the farm.
