I had the pleasure of sitting down with Jackie, the Founder and President of Driftwood Yoga, Spa, and Boutique in Denver, NC supporting one-of-a-kind wellness for the Lake Norman area. I can't explain enough the passion you can see in her as she speaks about the 360 wellness approach they are bringing to the community here. Below are some of her remarks about Driftwood.
What is Driftwood Yoga Spa & Boutique?
It's a wellness haven. I wanted to bring something very local here that was going to be unique that was going to inspire people to make self-care part of them every day. Being here in Denver, NC it can take you 45 minutes to get somewhere that maybe offers amenities like this; so Driftwood is really bringing that wellness haven in a 360 fashion from internal wellness down to the external wellness that we want to have through aesthetics.
Why is a spa and wellness important?
I've been a corporate America for about 25 years and I will tell you that self-care is no longer just this bougie thing that you do on the weekends; it really is a survival skill, and honestly the only way that I've been able to make it and wear all of the hats over the years is because I discovered self-care.
Who designed Driftwood?
I designed the space with a little obsessiveness and everything that you see here was absolutely obsessed over from the lighting to the textures of the fabrics from the tables; everything that we pulled together was to create this. I'm just so happy that people feel the calmness take over their body when they walk in; I never put it out there, people just say that when they walk in the place is very soothing with the music and the people.
What makes Driftwood Yoga, Spa, and Boutique Different?
It's a 360 approach so I didn't want it to be just a spa. I wanted it to start with internal wellness and that's the yoga process and I wanted yoga for everybody. What's really interesting is that we have a lot of people that come in with limited mobility, maybe they are getting into a more mature age and they feel very intimidated by yoga practice and they're flocking to our classes.
Then, all the way to our skin care line. I wasn't satisfied with just doing easy and going with a brand that is already prepackaged that just anyone can grab off the shelf anywhere. I've used The Organic Pharmacy for over 10 years and I didn't stop until they said they would partner with me. I am the only US based spa partner that's able to offer all of the services. I went out to London where I worked with the CEO and the training folks there to curate the very specific spa services. My team of very talented aestheticians and massage therapists has spent a lot of time learning these processes. They are very extensive procedures.
Even further all the way down to the treatment beds. Everything is intended to elevate the experience so the treatment beds were brought in from Italy with a triple memory foam mattress and the spa bed is unlike anything you're gonna find around.
And then just add a boutique too because you have to get in some retail therapy. And it's the stuff that I love everything that I can stand behind because I've used them for many many years and they're high-quality and people are gonna love them.
