I had an exhilarating experience getting to know Dan at Charlotte Efoil where he taught me and my daughter how to Efoil on Lake Norman. We had an opportunity to take off from the sandy beach of Lake Norman Breakaway and experience flying over water with expert coaching and guidance from Dan the whole way.
What is an Efoil?
An efoil is an electric hydrofoil lift out of Puerto Rico and they came up with the concept of putting up a battery that powers a brushless motor on a mast and put a wing on it. What all this allows you to do is surf on the water and literally come up off the water and fly above the water. It is an experience like no other.
What is Charlotte Efoil?
We started back in 2020 and we have snowballed into a watersport experience in Lake Norman. And now we’re able to do group events and multi-rider events. We can do up to 10 riders in a day. We usually put up to 3 boards in the water at a time with an instructor. We’ll go out with you and give you one on one guidance as needed walking you through the process of getting up. Our goal is to get you to experience flight over water, which is something that most people don’t experience and it’s a safe exhilarating experience for everyone.
Is Charlotte Efoil the only experience like this in the Lake Norman area?
Yea that’s right. What we like to do is come out to your place like we’ll spend the whole day with you; and in some instances we will even break it up to two days so that there’s a whole weekend of fun. We’ll leave the boards, take the batteries and charge them overnight and then come back the next day and continue . Presently, we’re the only ones that come to your personal waterfront property and set up and offer this type of experience on Lake Norman.
