This time of year feels festive, whether it’s warm and sunny or cold enough for a mug of hot cocoa and a fire. As we prepare for the holiday season, here are 5 of our favorite things to do in Lake Norman, NC.
1. Carolina Renaissance Festival
The Carolina Renaissance Festival in Huntersville is a unique and beloved tradition. Modeled after a 16th century European marketplace, it features music, comedy, theater, food and drink, hand-made arts and crafts, artisan demonstrations, games and rides. Fun for the whole family! It runs 9:30am – 5:30pm on Saturdays and Sundays until November 19th. Be sure to buy tickets online in advance.
2. Outdoor activities
Looking to get out in nature? This is the perfect time to choose a local hike and appreciate the fall colors. Check out this blog for some of our favorite hikes in the area!
3. Christmas Tree Lighting at Birkdale Village
The tree lighting at Birkdale Village in Huntersville is a popular way to kick off the holiday season. The festivities start at 4:30pm with a holiday parade, followed by the tree lighting at 6pm. Mark your calendar for Saturday, November 18th, and be sure to arrive early to find parking.
4. Christmas in Davidson
The Christmas in Davidson event is not to be missed. The idyllic Davidson Main Street is closed off to cars, and businesses and community organizations celebrate the season with live music, holiday shopping and lights galore. The live nativity run by Davidson United Methodist Church is something to see! The event runs November 30th to December 2nd, from 6pm-9pm each night.
5. North Meck Holiday Parade
The community comes out for the North Meck Holiday Parade, happening this year on Saturday, December 2nd at 1pm. Line up early to see marching bands, festive floats and, of course, Santa!
BONUS: Southern Christmas Show
If you’re looking for unique and artisan holiday gifts, head down to Charlotte for the Southern Christmas Show. You will enjoy not only the shopping experience, but also the entertainment, food, and decor competitions. It runs November 9-19th and features over 400 vendors. You can buy tickets online or at the door.
